My name is Mark. I have over a decade of experience as a 2D builder, specializing in Toon Boom Harmony. I am also a writer, reader, occasional painter, TTRPG enthusiast, collector of hockey cards and comic books. I am a Jack-of-many-trades, and master of some!
glowing testimonials
“This jerk works so god damn hard. 4.9 out of 5 stars. The -0.1 was for him not saying ‘hi’ that one time.
— Kim Ngo, Line Producer on YLV
“You’re alright, Mark. I don’t care what they say about you.”
— Sam Alkaitis, Builds Supervisor on 3CABS
“He’s a great guy!”
— Léa Morinville, Builds Supervisor on numerous projects, from her living room
“So sarcastic, but like… fun!“
— Léa, again, but from the kitchen this time
about me
I have worked in the animation industry since 2014, after completing animation studies at VanArts. Most of this time has been spent at Atomic Cartoons on a variety of shows with diverse styles. I pride myself on my communication skills and my ability to adapt to different audiences in order to ensure understanding without talking down or over heads.
As a Builds Artist I am accustomed to adapting quickly to new show styles as well as the latest changes in the Harmony software. I enjoy working on character builds and mechanical props that require a little more problem solving than typical builds.
In my down time, and between contracts, I write for the hockey card news site Cardboard Hockey. My writing partner and I have also recorded two podcast episodes and hope to resume this soon. I am learning to use Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro in order to edit episodes.
favourite projects

TrollsTopia (2020)
As team Lead, I helped train a wonderful group of new builders, most of whom I have had the pleasure of working with again since. Val Thundershock was my favourite build from this project, while the Dune Huggy is, to this day, one of the most complex builds I’ve ever worked on.

Hilda (Season 1, 2018)
Hilda is such a beautiful, and important, show. Being involved in even the smallest way is an honour. Our builds team faced a lot of unique challenges on this project, from built-in lighting effects, to boiling line textures… many of which are common place now. I’m happy to brag that if there is a bicycle in a scene, it was built by me.
